DERBY DAY by Michiko Hylands

I'm a big fan of going to the Races and there's no better excuse to get all dressed up to the nines!

I'm very excited that this Saturday February 28th is TV3's Derby Day out at Ellerslie. It's always such a glamourous affair and for me it's really all about the fashion!

Derby Day attire is traditionally  black and white or at least cream/beige and black.

Ladies, be your elegant best and dress to impress. Go either classic or be edgy and fashion-forward.

Your number one rule is find a great milliner! My first port of call is always the amazing Natalie Chan. Natalie's incredible creation "Compiegme Noir" $650.00 is bound to make you the centre of attention!

Natalie Chan's "Compiegne Noir" $650.00

I like a dress that is minimalistic with clean design lines. Try Forever New's Steph knitted bodycon Dress

Now, rock it up with a black leather blazer! I'm mad for the Aviva blazer by La Marque from Revolve Clothing.

Sometimes, it's all about the accessories. Who doesn't love a bit of fab chain-store chic with Witchery's white leather "Tina" clutch $109.90

Finally, you can't go without a fabulous shoe! For a big splurge, splash out on a pair of sky-high heels from Net-a-porter. Gucci's Bow-embelleished black satin heels are perfection! See you out there!

YSL's Desir de Jour by Michiko Hylands

YSL’s Printemps/Spring 2015 Desir de Jour make up collection

Nothing screams French chic and glamour more than the iconic brand: Yves Saint Laurent. YSL women are the epitome of sexy, femme-fatales. Aptly enough, wild child supermodel Cara Delevigne is the face of YSL’s latest campaign.

I'm loving the ultra pretty, eyeshadow palette, "Ombres de Jours"  which comes in a highly covetable sparky, glam compact.

The 5 shadows work perfectly together to make even the dullest eyes transform into fabulously gorgeous peepers! The colours are a perfect mix of hard rock vs pretty femininity. Super easy to blend and powerfully pigmented, a little bit goes a long way!

I'm also a big fan of the "Palette Lumiere de Jour" which is a glow enhancing pressed powder. At first, it seems like a matte powder. But in the true light of day, you can see the incredible glow!  Keep this in your handbag at all times for a quick pick me up!

For a while now, I’ve been rocking a matte lip but now my new fave is YSL’s "Rouge Volupte Shine" lipstick. It’s really moisturising and so creamy. Plus, no need for constant re-application either.

If gloss is more your thing, try YSL's " Volupte Tint-in-oil" lip gloss. The glosses are really light and act more like a stain or a lip balm. Try it for the sultry “bitten lip” look!

Right! Sultry femme-fatale make up done: tick! Time to dig out my fave YSL heels and hit the town!
